If you want to download a small number of files from a web site, you can do it by right clicking them and choosing the "Save As" option and repeat the task for each individual file. This is the traditional way of downloading files, which can prove to be inefficient if you need to download a large number of files. BlackWidow lets you download multiple files of different formats, including video, audio, pictures, documents, and more. You can use it to analyze web sites, preview files and save your settings if you want to start downloading at a later date.

The software can be installed in a few seconds, but you will have to go through a second setup process to install an additional driver, otherwise you will not be able to run BlackWidow. Fortunately, this process is faster than the first one, so you will not be kept waiting for too long.

You can access any web site, view its source code or take snapshots with the software's built-in browser. A scanner can be found under a different navigation tab, where you must click a Start button to scan the loaded web site. The process may take some time to complete, but you can pause or stop it at any time. The results include link errors, email addresses, external links and the web site's entire structure, displayed in a tree menu.

The options on the left edge of the interface make it possible to download and save the results. Links, emails and their referers can be saved as CSV, HTML or plain text files. A web site's structure can be saved in the same format and you can choose to include all files or just selected ones. Alternatively, you can save the structure in BlackWidow's own format or download the files directly to your hard drive. The software lets you download individual files, whole folders and sub-folders or the whole structure.

BlackWidow's features can be used either by experts or beginners. Switching from one section to another, selecting a few items and saving them is not hard to accomplish. If you are an advanced user and you want more, you can also set up one or more filters. In this way, you can scan a whole web site or stay within the initial URL, set a page transition depth and more. You can either use radio buttons and check boxes, or you can start typing your own script.

Pros

BlackWidow will extract any elements from a web site and organize them automatically in different sections. Its tools and options let you save, export or download the scanned items with minimum effort.

Cons

You can try the software for a maximum of 30 days. BlackWidow provides you with more than a download manager. Its features will allow you to analyze any web site and download any files.
